The most common questions

How long does it take to make a new car key?

An experienced auto locksmith should be able to replace your car keys within the timeframe of 30 minutes to an hour. The time required for the job varies depending on your specific situation and vehicle, as well as the type of car key that needs to be replaced and the level of programming that is necessary.

Why use an auto locksmith and not just a locksmith?

Whilst an auto locksmith works with locks, they rarely have to deal with keys in a traditional sense. This is due to the ever-changing complexity of electronic keys, which has made car keys as we used to know them obsolete since around 1995! Nowadays a vehicle locksmith will be concerned with reprogramming remote fobs and transponder keys which requires very expensive, high tech specialist equipment. While traditional locksmiths can help in some cases, vehicle locks are generally best left to the specialists.
